One thing that I see helping some sites in rankings is keeping content up to date. By consistently updating your site, adding new things, crawlers become more active on your site which in turn could help with your rankings a bit. In addition to SEO stuff, it is good in general to keep your content updated frequently. Users will return more often to see what new content is there, etc. Now you might feel as though you can’t update your site frequently because of the nature of the site. I think thats impossible. Any type of site can have some sort of update on a fairly consistent basis. For example if your running an arcade site, don’t release all your new games at once, spread it out and update a game or two daily. That way you keep users and crawlers consistently getting new content.

The h1 tag.
I have done experimenting with h1 tags and I believe they are very important. You can do some more research and a lot of people agree and reccomending using the h1 tag for search engine optimization. Like Tip #1 figure out the keywords you want to hit for when searched on search engines and put those in an h1 tag. Again try to keep it short and concise. Don’t overdue it. In addition having this h1 tag on your homepage is highly reccomended.
Example
Buy Traffic - Make Money
PS: Experiment with different tags and see how it goes, SEO takes time and works best through trial and error.

When selecting a title for each page of your website, try to pick a relevant keyword that you would like to hit for. Also don’t write something that is very long as being short and concise is usually better.
For example, this blog is about getting traffic and making money, therfore the title is simply “Buy Traffic - Make Money - TrafficManual.com” I personally like putting my site url in the title but that is not a must.

I would reccomend everyone look at their ValueClick impressions, and compare them to any statistic software you use. After 2-3 week of using ValueClick I finally noticed I was 1-1.5 million impressions short of displaying ads and earning money (Depending on which ad size). So the next step was to figure out how to use their “Default Ad” system. It is a bit confusing and it took me a few days to figure it out. Most other ad agencies these days use Rich Media ads, so ignore any of the “required” fields ValueClick says you need. Simply create a html page with just the ad code of another ad agency for the same sized ad unit. Upload that on your server. Then in the Rich Media field put the URL of that exact file, and turn the default ad on. And thats all you need to do!
Example:
You start using RightMedia as your default ad. Goto RightMedia and get the ad code for the same ad size. Create a file called rightmedia.html and place the code in there. Upload that file to your server. Goto ValueClick and click on the default ad button. Enter the url for that file in the Rich Media field, http://www.yourdomain.com/rightmedia.html And your done!

After using AdBrite to advertise my own sites I have gained a lot of knowledge. To begin with you must understand that you will win or lose with some of the advertising plans. Depending on the nature of your site, some form of advertising may seem more appealing than others using Adbrite. You can use interstitials, direct ads, network ads, cpm ads, etc. The direct ads are good because the minimum is $.05 per click, which is a lot less than some of those *other* places. You can also choose to advertise via interstitials which will cost you a minimum of $.01 per display of your site. Last but not least, my favorite, is the direct ads. You can browse through their list of sites and choose exactly which site you want to advertise on. Now a few pointers you should know. Their statistics system is a little wrong. Whatever number you see on there, it is usually higher. For example I listed one of my own sites there as a test run. AdBrite said I get around 9000 uniques daily when I really got around 17,000 uniques. So browse around their listing. The key is to find RELEVANT SITES, there have been MANY occasions where I have bought ads for a month for $20-$30 for a month and I would get 400-600 targeted uniques. (Of course these prices went up the following month, but I got the best of it for that current month). As always if you have any questions please register and feel free to post comments. I will respond as soon as possible.

Google Analytics is another one of the many traffic counters out there. I think analytics is one of the, if not, best counters out there. It gives you a nice breakdown of what sites are sending you traffic, exactly how much traffic those particular sites are sending. It lets you see what content on your site is viewed most of the time. In addition it shows you a breakdown of the different keywords used on search engines people are using to get to your site. I would reccomend using analytics for all your sites if possible.

There are many different counters out there that you can use and statscounter is among one of them. I think StatsCounter is great compared to most of the other ones. They have an invisible counter so you don’t have to put a million ads on your site just to see how many hits you have to your site. But be aware in my opinion I think Statscounter estimates your traffic to be a little bit higher than it is. All in all, it is a free counter that is easy to use, and nothing you have to wait in line to get.

Do you have problems with not all your pages being indexed by Google or Yahoo? Well here is a cool site I found that generates a sitemap for you for free (Up to 500 pages). Then you just upload that sitemap file onto the search engines and all your pages will be indexed! Easy as that! Just follow the simple instructions on the page.

To begin with, I think ValueClick is fairly difficult to get accepted into. I myself had to apply more than once to get in. With that said you know that this is a respectable network that doesn’t take just anyone. Upon my initial usage of using ValueClick I was very impressed. I made 3 times the amount that I would normally make in a given day. I let my excitement get to me. After about 3-4 days the rates climbed down, went back up, then stabalized. Their system fluctuates a lot but rest assure if you provide good traffic, with a decent CTR you will make money. Although I’m not still making 3 times the amount, like I did on the first day, I am still making more in a given day that I would on other publisher networks. ValueClick provides lots of different type of ads, but they are mainly for CPM ads. They also offer pop under ads, and interstitials. There popunders are great because they have a built in system where you can select only 1 popunder to be displayed per 24 hour period per user. In addition their interstitials, although the rates are not good compared to AdBrite, automatically forward to your site in 10 seconds. Thats good because sometimes users click on a link on your site then go to browse another window, so basically it will just forward to your site, without your user seeing the ad. But even if the user is still on your site, the ad isn’t that annoying. I found it didn’t make that much of a difference in my daily stats after using this for awhile. I haven’t yet gotten a check from ValueClick because I just started using them but I’m sure I will be getting a check. They are known company that has been around forever.
